  1. It amazes me how many students graduate high school yet many don’t have a clue about certain significant historical events, basic geography and simple math. Others can’t spell. In the US high school students take the SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) which was mandatory at one time. A student’s SAT score figured prominently when their college application was reviewed. Even though the SAT has been overhauled and some colleges aren’t using it in the admission process, that still doesn’t justify a high school senior not knowing how many presidents the US has had or what continent Italy is in.
