We seek hope in a foreign land,
In a land that only comes to life at night,
Oh endless night, consuming even the small grains of sand,
Tempting us to stop the fight.
As the clouds uncover another plane of existence,
And we endure the insults being shouted from a distance,
We pray for a better day,
A day where all of this could be less painful or even……. Delay.
Yet, after all the mistreatment, we still believe in hope and love;
So we still stand in a foreign land
Waiting the sign of the white dove
To help our minds and hearts to expand.
While we wait in this foreign land of shadows,
Let the heart of the rose and the soul of the ocean come close.
At times hope can be found in the eyes of the person next to us,
And perhaps after all the fuss
We’ll realize, we were never in a foreign land; we just forgot how to discuss.
