The CONFIDENCE series was born on January 2 2017 with one of Bernar M. Baruch’s quote, “Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don’t matter, and those who matter don’t mind.” Such profound quote that not only preaches tolerance but confidence in oneself.
When it comes to confidence, I could say that I am a work in progress, (I believe we all are to a great extent) but the most important part is to acknowledge that we have low confidence so we can shift our attention to that and work more on it to bring it up a little bit more. When I started this series, I learned so much about why I do not possess the confidence that I wish I could have, granted, I am still working on it, but the more I work on it the better my confidence levels will get.
I do believe that confidence is like a muscle, if you do not exercise it regularly, you will lose it completely (for those that have it.) The only way we can strengthen our confidence is to do something that scares us every day. In the beginning, it will be extremely difficult and it could escalate to the level of anxiety pretty quickly if you do not let those emotions go.
Shannon L. Alder said it, “One of the greatest regrets in life is being what others would want you to be, rather than being yourself.” With that being said, we really need to learn to have confidence in ourselves, to trust our instincts and that little voice in the back of our heads that almost whispers, “You can. You are worth so much. Go forth and conquer your fear.” Trust it and strengthen that forgotten muscle call CONFIDENCE.
Let us not be our own obstacle on our path to greatness, but let us also remember to trust the process. Confidence will come with time, but only if you are taking the steps necessary to build it up or to strengthen it. Confidence will also come to all of us if we are able to ask ourselves, “What would we love to do with our lives, regardless of financial compensation?” We need to ask ourselves what makes us feel alive.
Finally, in order to build or strengthen our confidence, we must focus on what we want to be and not on what we do NOT want to be. A change in perception could be the beginning of it all, vision is important. We will not be able to wake up one day and be the superman of confidence, but we can take baby steps now. Take it one day at a time, build yourself up and if you feel like you are in pieces now, then that is even better cause you can build a better you with the left over pieces.
Stay amazing and stay strong, change is inevitable, but growth only comes to those that are willing to suffer through it. Thank you for being part of this series and for the continues support. Take care and remember to be who you are, never change. The most important thing is to know what you want to be, stop focusing on who you are, it is too late for that.
